Possible Issues with Group Definition and Calculated Columns in "Data From Other Data Source" Data Source

In the "Data From Other Data Source" data source, the option to define groups based on functions does not work. Although an expression has been defined to modify a column, the column appears empty when displayed in a table. As an alternative, a calculated column has been created in the source table, and then that column was selected to create the group. I would like to know if it is possible to apply the expression directly in the Groups tab. Additionally, it is also not possible to define calculated columns in tables of this data type, "Data From Other Data Source." It is unclear if this is an error or if it is not supported.

Is not supported. You can try to use DataTransformation item.
